Now as the seer to the king, that same boy she saved has become her adversary as she plots with his father to break his curse and find him a wife. But the thing about prophecy is it is told in riddles and what Violet believes to be true may be different from reality. YA fantasy lovers will enjoy this one. It does have mature content so I would not recommend it for younger YA readers.<br /><div><br /></div><div><br /><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div></div><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14.85px;">____________________________</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px;"><br /></div></div></div></div><p><span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #444444; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">Stacy Barnett Mozer is a third grade teacher and a middle grade author. Michelle Mohrweis is the author of The Trouble With Robots, a new stem middle grade book that releases on September 27. I got an early copy from NetGalley and reviewed the book on this blog a few weeks ago.</span><p></p><p><b style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><span style="font-family: georgia;">When did you decide to become an author?</span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">To be honest, I’m not sure. I know I’ve always enjoyed writing. I would write in my spare time, write during class in the margins of my notes, write during recess, etc... I even remember being a stagehand during a high school drama club production and sitting with a small handheld computer backstage writing while I waited for it to be time to swap out props! Writing has been my favorite thing since before I can remember.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">Somewhere in there, I started dreaming about other people reading my writing. I remember being in 5th<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>grade and telling my teacher I’d be published one day. I remember daydreaming about being an author when I’d volunteer at my favorite book festival in college. Being an author was my goal for so long that I honestly can’t say when I first wanted to become one.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><b><span style="font-family: georgia;">Tell us about your journey. How did you get Trouble with Robots published?</span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">My journey was both a long and short one. The Trouble with Robots itself moved fast, and at times felt like a whirlwind. Before that, however, I had a long road of trying, failing and learning from that failure (much like the characters in Robots!) I first finished a novel in college and decided I wanted to get published. I learned that not all traditional publishers let you just send them material, however. You often need a literary agent first.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">So, I started querying. And I got many rejections! Eventually, I shelved that story and attempted to write a few other novels. Some I never even tried querying. Others, I tried for years. After years of revising, querying, and failing, I realized I was missing some key ingredients to the process.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">I took a break from querying the latest story to learn more about the craft of writing. I joined critique groups, found critique partners, and got active on writing twitter (I had an account for years but never really used it much until then) to learn more about publishing. I worked on a few ideas, from fantasy to SciFi.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">Then covid hit. I was stuck at home, bored, and missing my students. So, I tried writing something I never thought about before: middle grade contemporary.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">I loved it.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">That’s when I wrote The Trouble With Robots. I was so in the zone that it only took me a couple months to have a query-ready version of the story. The timing lined up perfectly with a pitch contest called Pitmad, and during the contest, my agent requested my story. Two days later, she emailed me and wanted to set up a call, and during that call, she offered me representation.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">See? It’s both a very short journey and a long one all at once.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">I ended up signing with her, and from there we refined the manuscript and went on submission, where she sent it out to editors. This part took longer, but after seven months, Peachtree offered to buy it.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">I’m so happy with where The Trouble with Robots ended up, and with everything I learned along the way. Just like Allie and Evelyn must keep trying with their robot, in writing sometimes it’s all about trying, learning from what does and doesn’t work, and trying again!</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><b><span style="font-family: georgia;">Was there ever a point when you felt like giving up?</span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><br /></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">All the time! During those years when I was trying and failing, I often wondered if I was good enough, if I’d ever be good enough. Even more than that though: edits. My first drafts tend to be rather flat. My characters in early drafts almost feel like shells of what they will become, and I usually focus more on the plot and descriptions than the characters. To be honest, my first drafts aren’t very good. It’s only as I edit and revise that they start to shine.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">With Robots, I focused on the emotions of the characters as I edited. Their traits, their tendencies, the things that drove them, and how that would affect and alter the plot. I thought about what stories I wanted to tell: The determined young engineer who doesn’t quite know how to work with a team, who hates change, and is still reeling from her best friend leaving. The “trouble kid” who has so much more going on than anyone realizes, who is drowning in her grief but doesn’t know how to escape it and lashes out instead. I really thought about who they were, and then focused on how they could eventually become friends and help lift each other up. I think that helped a lot with each chapter.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"> </span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; margin: 0in; text-size-adjust: auto;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">Though, the other thing that helped was my editor. Tim hates being a peasant so when he is given the opportunity to become a knight and help his prince save a princess, he jumps at the chance. Along the way, he learns a lot about the difference between hype and reality. The book is very funny and I love how Tim teaches the reader tons of new words along the way. Natalie Lloyd is a master at writing real-world fantasy, and this book is no exception. When feathers fall from the sky like snow and a blue moon rises, the hummingbird comes to grant wishes. Olive has osteogenesis imperfect, a disease that makes her bones brittle. Because of this, she has been homeschooled. But now she has convinced her parents to let her go to middle school and if she has her wish, maybe she won't be brittle anymore. This beautiful book is made even more special when you read the author's note and find out that she, like Olive has osteogenesis imperfect. I will definitely be buying a copy for my classroom.<div><br /></div><div><br /><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div></div><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14.85px;">____________________________</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">Stacy Barnett Mozer is a third grade teacher and a middle grade author. Her stories revolve around forgotten truths and that magic always has consequences. In this case, a long time ago a kingdom was separated when Toed to steal magic. In order to prevent the king from getting what he wanted, the magical beings caused a woods to grow and over time the people on each side of the woods mostly forgot about each other. Only the wrong twin, a fox, and a bandit's daughter can set the magic free and prevent war between two kingdoms that have forgotten each other's existence until now. </div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Young Adult</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781368081597" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="267" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjChIg5gBv0Q_D9jNkUuFpUy_kF24weIPqbT8vrGTM52Iwki0AooXISOLD5QpakK7HiotCejZOdc6e_eMAVpQz5Ispj3C_CpILDkgJwaZCfYyvFhpUSaNtGCPOGJzZBJXZ1cUn9L2uOi9d0uUQGZxOtBoAejm4jrtn-LuKnyUVEi8eE5S5YCjdXzeFtUg/s320/9780778388241.jpg" width="214" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Judah was born to change the world, but all she knows is that she was found as an orphan and taken to live in the castle where she is treated as a blemish on the world instead. Those who know of this connection want to use Judah and her power. All she wants is a life of her own. This young adult book is not for the faint of heart. After her crime family is killed by another crime boss, Lina is forced to work for him. When he has her steal an important tapestry, the two of them find themselves in the realm of the Dokkaebi, the immortals. The only way Lina can escape with her life and save her sister is to kill the emperor of this city. But things are not always as they seem. To use magic, the witches in this world are bound to the roll of the dice. So far, Calliope Rosewoods' rolls have all been the number six, which may mean that she is fated to be a dangerous warrior. Between her rolls and her magic, which is a power that even has other witches scared, Calla wants to change her fate. When she meets two brothers, she may have found the key to changing her fate, but she in the process she may lose her heart. The Trouble With Robots is about a team of middle school kids who are part of a robotics class. Unlike Team A, who always seems to have it together, Team B is a disaster. They are even disqualified from their first meet and their leader, Evelyn, is at risk for losing her leadership position and is worried her moms will be disappointed in her and she'll never see her best friend, who has moved and is on another robotics team, again. Enter Allie, a troubled student who has been assigned to robots club as a final chance to stay at the school. Evelyn and Allie could not be more different, but learning to work together will not just change their team, it will change each of them. This story is told from alternating points of view of Evelyn and Allie. Readers will adore both of them and will root for Team B. This is a definite must read when it comes out in September. </div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT3t4W1wxJlgpvMh_jifqjDyEyzRU5M_X-6TVuoDySKQOnh6GOie3MH5L4DaOzsQGil7ANy2sk1zpyOEETA2w6OJ9zA3zzPuwdrumv4FUJ1pawUUnCmV9csAEPJVmhPxLPAjnFazuTKpr8aGlm4aq6rgY_yCoVYtDj-cGYQxeBQ1z5vAdvAoQWCTKd2w/s400/CFF4D3A0-771F-41D8-8B0B-35E2968A2C73.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="259" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjT3t4W1wxJlgpvMh_jifqjDyEyzRU5M_X-6TVuoDySKQOnh6GOie3MH5L4DaOzsQGil7ANy2sk1zpyOEETA2w6OJ9zA3zzPuwdrumv4FUJ1pawUUnCmV9csAEPJVmhPxLPAjnFazuTKpr8aGlm4aq6rgY_yCoVYtDj-cGYQxeBQ1z5vAdvAoQWCTKd2w/s320/CFF4D3A0-771F-41D8-8B0B-35E2968A2C73.jpeg" width="207" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Maxine has a figure skating competition coming up, but instead of staying focused on skating, the bullying she is dealing with from a boy in her school because she's Chinese is the only thing on her mind. Their action made such a difference that this year the school and district is under new leadership, one that encourages action and has created a pilot climate class to encourage kids to think big. Mary Kate was supposed to start this class with her best friend Lucy, but Lucy has not been feeling well and no one knows why. Not having her best friend in school pushes Mary Kate to meet new kids who help to open her eyes to serious problems in her town. When the kids try to help solve these problems, they find that while they have the encouragement of the school administration, the mayor is their biggest enemy and that when it comes to climate change, systemic racism can also factor into the conversation. This sequel to Dress Coded will make you want to go out and do a better job taking care of the world and opens your eyes in so many ways. I hope it finds its way to policy makers.</div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781984814500" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="275" data-original-width="183" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh55FGekxAWT01IHAtPFxw88R7muVFBjQoxh_VeDahcG4fS7_CwKWYfHSg79AXavKD8-hjSG8ERI8Zi231MFVjlVA7LesC_PqMHJZNIdmNJwf2LBGcUgxFqjP1gDgxwRCZzhaZfJB7q_yePknblUrplpanhb4LlqYj5rUIbBVofawrxMR1EBjsSQm6Gww/w213-h320/download-9.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Ellie has always been a larger sized person. It's the story of Minni, a girl who lives in the poorest area of Mumbai where it is very difficult to find clean water. Minni and those who surround her don't just thirst for water, they thirst for the tickets to find their way into a brighter future and greater opportunities. When Minni's mother becomes ill, Minni has to step up to help her family by balancing school, her mother's job, taking care of herself, and going to computer class on the weekends. This is an excellent book and I'm glad it's been selected for this year's <a href="https://theglobalreadaloud.com/2022/03/19/global-read-aloud-choices-2022-gra22/" target="_blank">Global Read Aloud</a>. Even though they are very different stories, it reminded me of <a href="https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781338157826">Front Desk</a> by Kelly Yang. I just returned from a trip to Vermont where the weather was beautiful and the fireworks were extraordinary. Being away also gave me plenty of time to read and write. When a police officer is found innocent of shooting a black man, even though there is video showing that man had his back to the officer, was unarmed, and couldn't be a threat, Shayla has to think about what it means to be a Black girl in this world. The book does an excellent job of explaining the Black Lives Matter movement and the protests that follow events like this. It is a well written story about the challenges of identity children face at this age. But while Lucy has conquered high school math, she has yet to conquer middle school friendships so her Gran sends her "for her own good." Now she just has to survive for a year. This is one of my favorite all time books. Not only is Lucy a lovable character, there are dogs.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><p></p><p style="font-size: 14.85px; text-align: center;"><b>Young Adult</b></p><div style="font-size: 14.85px;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.indiebound.org/book/9780765387561" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="265" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy27a7xa-9sY1vvsrtm1tDEgsbTSBeU2Q-7tMuyTXt2ajy8eP0g2AWju50fZ857jnYmXJ5ApJMOAMSvc6F-K3flADCHgI00unHEz2dA53MNr2P9ebkwhr_2g4RlzGLyBR0qpJfpFzz7_-v8f5A6IZdveOcG7Qb7h5zflbBqCk-cSfOwo6afEip4ZHPfQ/s320/9780765387561.jpg" width="212" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14.85px;">Technically this book might be adult, but it reads as a YA book to me. When Addie is forced to marry a man she doesn't love, she makes a deal with the devil for freedom. Unfortunately, the devil is in the details and Addie finds herself living a never ending life that only she will remember. In order to grant her freedom, the devil has made it so that once someone leaves Addie's presence, they forget her immediately. Until one day, one boy remembers her. Told from different points in Addie's never ending life, we see how she learns to leave her mark upon a world that would forget her face.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14.85px;"><br /></span></div><span face="arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif" style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-size: 14.85px;"><div style="text-align: center;">____________________________</div></span></div><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">Stacy Barnett Mozer is a teacher and a middle grade author. I had a grand plan in September to blog throughout the year, but once again COVID and the world's attitude towards teachers and schools got in the way, so TGIS!</p><p>It's Monday What Are You Reading is hosted each week by <a href="https://www.unleashingreaders.com/" target="_blank">Unleashing Readers</a> and <a href="http://www.teachmentortexts.com/" target="_blank">Teach Mentor Texts</a>. If you are a person who loves kidlit, all you need to do to join is to blog about books you are reading on Monday, add your link to either of those two blogs, and post using the hashtag. I hope you will join in!</p><p>Now on to what I've been reading!</p><p style="text-align: center;"><b>Middle Grade</b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781665912730" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="277" data-original-width="182" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAHTQuLkSBu3x3WvirrBW5jdYjaqaXjRa4LF6syI0UEvHTD2cpqIMMwGqLLDTbxAEAAbmWGKZ0xRbI940OageLovrKOHAWn2Lfm9Q7DvEwNgfRwuYhpOqqFrG6pkkG8PBz-jrJuhZ9ayPKlSlycOA0Ud6eK7hssuR4TZFoFQCO4-x8VFj9FcwN7C_82w/w210-h320/download.jpg" width="210" /></a></div><br /><p>I loved this new fantasy by A.F. Steadman. Skandar lives in a world where unicorns aren't the pretty, white, rainbow filled creatures of peace we are used to seeing in other fantasies. In Skandar's world, unicorn's are vicious creatures who can cause chaos if not tamed by a Unicorn Rider -- and everyone hopes that they will be one of those riders. So when Skandar shows up for his Unicorn Hatchery test and is told to go home before he even goes inside, he thinks all hope is lost. When a mysterious figure shows up at his door offering another chance, he takes the risk, no matter what the cost. Lovers of middle grade fantasies such as Eragon and Keeper of the Lost Cities will love this book. I can't wait for the next one.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /><a href="https://www.indiebound.org/book/9781984816900" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="256" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpC3voCXp-ibYFpRGNbaTMEbODPqjXe6Nl-V-BuUe5NEzhvfNhu1RR3RkS9NoL9X_hd63fpZl5gDYpaX2Ikp-PV2dR6aZCDmnZi6bFRDLjrwg1DyYKPtwPKbDuJ_NVfPEkttzYoAQAwQTvfqaou2wIO4jidLMGYUiHUDAOiaS3bWk49mBuUwTzmDqRGw/w205-h320/9781984816887.jpg" width="205" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;">Imagine that you can open any lock with just a thought. But the Traveler is not what he seems, and it turns out, neither is Melanie. An exciting adventure with magic, adventure, and a mysterious cat. These are not Disney stories for kids. A Whole New World asks the question, "What if Aladdin had never found the lamp?" or put a different way, "What if Abu never stole the lamp out of Jafar's hands when he locked him in the cave of wonders?" The answer, according to Liz Braswell, is that you would have a kingdom in turmoil and a princess who would need to step out of her comfy existence to become a rebel leader. Young adults and adults who watched Disney's Aladdin as a kid will enjoy this version.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here are some of the other books in the series. With masks and social distancing, but still humming. In writing news, my agent loves my manuscript revisions (yay!) and so I should be out on sub soon. For those of you who don't know what this is, it's what happens after a writer finishes a book and the agent sends it to editors at publishing companies. Sometimes they get back to you right away. More often, it's a time of waiting and writing something new. And of course, lots of reading!</p><p><span class="rush-component s-latency-cf-section" data-component-type="s-search-results"><span class="celwidget slot=MAIN template=SEARCH_RESULTS widgetId=search-results_1" data-csa-c-id="el70al-syly62-ez5w5-ylad5w"></span></span></p><div class="sg-col sg-col-4-of-12 sg-col-4-of-16 sg-col-4-of-20"><div class="sg-col-inner"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="a-section aok-relative s-image-fixed-height" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><div class="maintain-height litb-on-click image-2d" id="img-canvas" style="height: 346px; left: 15.5167px; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; position: absolute; top: 0.333313px; width: 229px;"><br />

It's every bit as wonderful as people have said. It's the story of Zoey, a 12 yo whose family situation makes it challenging for her to succeed in school. Her mother's verbally abusive boyfriend has made her mother somewhat absent in the life of her children and Zoey has had to step in. When her teacher notices her throw her homework out in the trash rather than turning it in, she decides to force Zoey into the debate team. Ms. Rochambeau sees herself in Zoey and through her pushing, Zoey is able to not just see herself in a different way, but help her mother and her friend's mother to find their self-worth too. I will admit to being particularly fond of books with great teachers. I hope that Zoey and her teacher find their way into the hands of real kids who need to adjust their own self-view.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EwZOJddD6mg/YUknnTm8BcI/AAAAAAAAJcw/fli4YxF57J0RtsBAzRjY3894M4qCnP94wCLcBGAsYHQ/s436/811GEMSsIIL._AC_UY436_QL65_.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="436" data-original-width="289" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EwZOJddD6mg/YUknnTm8BcI/AAAAAAAAJcw/fli4YxF57J0RtsBAzRjY3894M4qCnP94wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/811GEMSsIIL._AC_UY436_QL65_.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>I love middle grade fantasy, and Thirteen Witches is a really well done story. It's about a girl named Rosie whose mother has always been distant - almost to the point where sometimes she doesn't know who Rosie is. Her best friend, Germ, is the only one who really knows her, but lately Germ has been acting different, wearing makeup and caring about her clothes, and Rosie feels like she is losing the one person in her life that cares about her. When Germ makes a comment about the happy ending stories Rosie tells, Rosie decides to burn them and grow up. Little did she know that this act will be life changing because it opens Rosie's eyes to the magical world around her full of ghosts and witches. Rosie learns that she is the last in a line of witch hunters and now that she has this knowledge, her life is in danger from the witch who stole her mother's memory long ago. <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">_______________</span></div></div><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px; text-align: center;"><div class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;"><br /></span></div></div><div style="color: black;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">Stacy Barnett Mozer is a teacher and a middle grade author. When Jaxon's mother asks a women named Ma to watch him so she can try to make sure they are not evicted from their apartment, Jaxon has no idea what his mother is getting him into. It turns out that Ma is a witch and she needs Jaxon to help her deliver three dragons. But when Ma gets trapped in the past, Jaxon turns to his best friend Vikram for help. Things seemed to go well until they realize that Vikram's sister has stolen one of the dragons. This series is fun, action packed, and has a lot to say about responsibility and friendship. It is definitely a middle grade must have.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pqfFe2CSigM/YT59-zOMSBI/AAAAAAAAJcM/w7upguLYOi0_6i9n4ZAAa0X9nCyWrvXgwCLcBGAsYHQ/s499/51WA9NPEDjL._SX331_BO1%252C204%252C203%252C200_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="499" data-original-width="333" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pqfFe2CSigM/YT59-zOMSBI/AAAAAAAAJcM/w7upguLYOi0_6i9n4ZAAa0X9nCyWrvXgwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/51WA9NPEDjL._SX331_BO1%252C204%252C203%252C200_.jpg" width="214" /></a></div><p>Brewster's Millions was one of my favorite movies growing up, so I really loved Stacy McAnulty's middle grade version, Millionaires for the Month. When Felix and Benji find a wallet on a school trip belonging to millionaire Laura Friendly, Benji decides that she won't miss the $20 he finds inside to buy a hot dog. But Laura Friendly understands that every penny has value, so instead of simply rewarding the boys for finding her wallet, she gives them a challenge - spend $5,368,709.12 in 30 days and get 10 million dollars. The catch - no one can know what they are doing and why. If that was hard to do as an adult, for two kids in middle school, that's practically impossible. I loved watching these two opposite kids learn how to work together, seeing their friendship develop, and finding out what they decide to buy. Middle graders will love Millionaires for the Month.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">_______________</span></div></div><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px; text-align: center;"><div class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;"><br /></span></div></div><div style="color: black;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">Stacy Barnett Mozer is a teacher and a middle grade author. With school starting this week, I almost broke my deal to myself to start posting each week on the second week. Fortunately I've read plenty of books this summer that I can't wait to tell you about. Here are some more books from Netgalley that I was thankful to read before their release date. <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ng7grE5rADk/YSRYtSwaTNI/AAAAAAAAJag/ja4n0gnNe84DGXqFgBH01Q9erszz2-SDQCLcBGAsYHQ/s385/cover229092-medium.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="385" data-original-width="255" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ng7grE5rADk/YSRYtSwaTNI/AAAAAAAAJag/ja4n0gnNe84DGXqFgBH01Q9erszz2-SDQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/cover229092-medium.png" width="212" /></a></div><p>This middle grade novel in verse is the story of Aafiya Qamar. When Aafiyah sees pretty things, they tend to end up in her pocket or her bag. She feels drawn to them and needs to have them for a short period of time. When her father is accused of a crime and is unable to get back into the United States, Aafiya decides to not just borrow but to steal from her best friend's mother in order to help her dad. This story did an amazing job of putting us into Aaifiya's head to see how this compulsion takes over her life. I am thankful to see that the author gives Aafiya real consequences for her behavior. This is a book that I hope will find its way into the hands of kids who need to know they are not alone. This is a definite must read when Golden Girl releases in April of 2022.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ved6RqsNDII/YSRapHm2mKI/AAAAAAAAJao/8TsjfFhg1Ns8-1XbpjRCNDbseGmmSzDZQCLcBGAsYHQ/s385/cover229364-medium.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="385" data-original-width="255" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ved6RqsNDII/YSRapHm2mKI/AAAAAAAAJao/8TsjfFhg1Ns8-1XbpjRCNDbseGmmSzDZQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/cover229364-medium.png" width="212" /></a></div><p>Anybody Here Seen Frenchie? is a wonderful middle grade story about friendship and the importance of connecting with others. Told in multiple points of view, this story is about a girl named Aurora. Aurora may not be able to sit quietly in a classroom or keep still, but when her autistic neighbor Frenchie moves next door, she is one of the only people who he connects with. And even though Frenchie never says a word, Aurora understands him better than anyone else. When Frenchie doesn't make it to class one day, Aurora feels she is to blame. Follow her cue, and what Aurora has taught people about Frenchie, the whole town sets out to find him. I love these characters. They are each so unique and interesting. Their connection, and the way they touch the people around them, is beautiful. Everyone should rush out and get this book in February 2022.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.850000381469727px; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">_______________</span></div></div><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.850000381469727px; text-align: center;"><div class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;"><br /></span></div></div><div style="color: black;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">Stacy Barnett Mozer is a teacher and a middle grade author. COVID definitely changed my reading habits. I used to read right before I went to sleep and now I find that by the end of the day I am exhausted. Fortunately, my body had other ideas and my internal clock now wakes me up each day between 5 - 6, before I'm ready to get out of bed. That's when instead of falling back into dreams, I fall into books instead. My next goal is to start getting back into review mode.</p><p>This week I finished two middle grade books I received as DARCS from NetGalley. I am so thrilled to be one of the first to read these amazing books and can't wait until they release so I can share them with my class! Both deal with the loss of a mother, but in very different ways.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sty6G7opURk/YRpU_dro3zI/AAAAAAAAJZU/7diOy-TSEbcRRWwFqSYnOYt1XiC0qN1HACLcBGAsYHQ/s385/cover229114-medium.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="385" data-original-width="255" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sty6G7opURk/YRpU_dro3zI/AAAAAAAAJZU/7diOy-TSEbcRRWwFqSYnOYt1XiC0qN1HACLcBGAsYHQ/w213-h320/cover229114-medium.png" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><i>Crick.</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><i>Crack.</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><i>This is a story. </i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><i>A Comb of Wishes </i>is about a girl named Kela whose life has not been the same since her mother passed away in a terrible accident. She has distanced herself from her friends and spends her time on the beach collecting sea glass, known on her Caribbean island as "Mermaid's Tears." One day when she is collecting, she is called to explore a cave and finds a comb that she finds out quickly belongs to an actual mermaid. The mermaid offers her one wish in exchange for returning her comb, but like most wishes, Kela's comes with a price and when the comb breaks and Kela can't return it, the stakes are raised even higher. I love the way this book handles Kela's loss and the stages of grief with a bit of magic, which may be just what a middle grader needs to help them move forward. There are also elements of betrayal and a high stakes mystery when the comb is stolen. You also get to learn about life on the island of St. Rita and their tradition of story telling. I also love how this book handles relationships with friends and family. I would highly recommend this book for middle grade classroom when it hits the shelves in February 2022.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7uUPYPvKDls/YRpZC8TtUXI/AAAAAAAAJZc/FRBs4ignf2064QQbgoNcvm0TJEWUOzKewCLcBGAsYHQ/s389/cover231136-medium.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="389" data-original-width="255" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7uUPYPvKDls/YRpZC8TtUXI/AAAAAAAAJZc/FRBs4ignf2064QQbgoNcvm0TJEWUOzKewCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/cover231136-medium.png" width="210" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When Morgan's mother collapses in front of her, her last words were, "Keep them safe, Morgan. Be Brave for them. Help them be happy." Since her mother's death, that is all Morgan has been doing. Taking care of her father and younger sister and brother, even if that means giving up her friends and soccer, something she loves to do most. Following her mother's life coach plans, Morgan is determined to make her family's plan B work for them. But when her father takes them on their usual end of summer camping trip, Plan B keeps getting changed and Morgan feels her control slipping. To get that back, she does something reckless that puts her life in danger. But when all hope seems lost, she learns that her mother's words on the floor wasn't her actual final message and that Plan Bs can turn into new Plan As. This book is full of heartbreak and love. I would recommend getting it for an upper middle grade classroom when it hits the shelves in January 2022.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); clear: both; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.850000381469727px; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">_______________</span></div></div><div style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.850000381469727px; text-align: center;"><div class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;"><br /></span></div></div><div style="color: black;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: constantia; font-size: 14pt;">Stacy Barnett Mozer is a teacher and a middle grade author. I wasn't prepared for opening up the site and realizing that my last post was three days before my school shut down and we started remote teaching, so before I post about books, a post about the journey. After all, it's all about the journey.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="font-size: small;">In February, before we were really thinking about COVID, I sent out the following query based on a #MSWL post looking for books with a Ren Faire twist:</span></span></p><p><i><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="font-size: small;">Eleven-year-old Catherine of Aragon Smoot has had it with Medieval Times. It’s bad enough during the school year her dad owns the oddest shop in town, selling medieval artifacts while talking in old English and wearing tights. She can’t bear to spend one more summer at her family’s camp where Cat, her parents, and sisters, Elizabeth and Dragon reign over a small band of badly dressed renaissance obsessed aficionados. She wants technology and running water, not three layers of dresses and jousts in her honor.</span></span></i></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0px 0px 10px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><i><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="font-size: small;">When Cat is the only one to notice the mysterious bald knight who is wreaking havoc from the jousting competition to the festival dinner, it is up to her and her best friend Henry to solve the mystery of what he’s truly up to and save the camp. That is, if Cat decides she wants the camp to be saved.</span></span></i></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0px 0px 10px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="font-size: small;">On May 1, I received a request for the full. I sent it off and forgot about it in the mist of pandemic remote teaching and trying to find a way to make sure the year ended well for my students, especially my fifth graders who weren't expecting to perform Shakespeare from the comfort of their own homes.</span></span></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0px 0px 10px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="font-size: small;">On August 5, I received a message from Emily Forney, a new agent at Bookends. She was taking over for the agent who requested my manuscript and wanted permission to read the full. Little did I know at the time that Emily had studied Medieval Times, the Renaissance, and the Tudors and would be the perfect fit for this story. I signed with her at the beginning of September.</span></span></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0px 0px 10px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="font-size: small;">So while COVID has been a challenging time for many things, my writing has never been stronger. I'm excited to see where the journey takes me next. </span></span></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0px 0px 10px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="font-size: small;">For more, read my client interview over at <a href="https://bookendsliterary.com/2020/09/18/new-client-alert-stacy-barnett-mozer/">Bookends</a>.<br /></span></span></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0px 0px 10px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></p><p><br /></p>S. <span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have been so fortunate this year to have a student who loves to pass me the books he is reading. They always come with a little note, like the one in the picture above. Coo is the story of an abandoned baby who is rescued by some pigeons. When her pigeon father figure gets hurt, Coo decides to trust a woman named Tully who has rescued pigeons before. Once Tully meets Coo, she decides to rescue her as well. As my student suggested, I did have a good time reading this book. I love the way the author portrays the relationship between Coo and her pigeons and the people she meets as she learns what it means to be human. </span><br />

<span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Another book my student brought me this week I'd been looking forward to for a long time. Nat Enough is the new graphic novel by Maria Scrivan, a local cartoonist. It's the story of a girl name Nat who is looking forward to starting middle school with her best friend, but as happens, her "best" friend has decided to become popular and now treats Nat in ways that aren't friendly, writing her nasty notes and teasing her in front of others. Nat has to find her way and realize she is more than enough. Nat Enough releases on April 7 and will be loved by graphic novel lovers of every age.</span></div>

<span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I adore fractured fairytale series, so I was thrilled to find the Princess of the Midnight Ball series. The series starts with a twelve princesses who are forced to dance each night with the sons of the King Under the Stone. In the first book, the kingdom is going to ruin because the princesses have been accused of magic. It will take the courage of all the princesses, especially their oldest sister Rose and a young soldier named Galen to save them.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The second book in the Princess of the Midnight Ball follows Princess Poppy as she goes to another kingdom on a mission of good will after the events of the first book. Poppy quickly recognizes things are going magically wrong in this kingdom when a servant girl named Ellen shows up at a ball in a magical gown with glass slippers and all of the men can think of no other. Aided by Ellen's former friend who can also see through the illusion, Poppy must rescue Ellen and the kingdom from evil magic.</span></div>

<span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The final book in the series follows Princess Petunia, the youngest of the twelve sisters. On her way through the woods she meets a wolf who accidentally kidnaps her. The wolf is a boy named Oliver who has been forced to live in the woods with his band of merry men, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, because his own lands were given away quite mysteriously. Little does Oliver know that his own troubles are connected to Petunia and her sisters and the Kingdom Under the Stone. I wish this wasn't the last book. I would have enjoyed reading one on every sister.</span></div>

<span style="color: #5c5c5c; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">City Spies is a new mystery kid spy series from James Ponti, the author of the Framed series. When Sara Martinez finds herself arrested for hacking into a computer system, she has no idea that she has earned a spot in a secret kid spy team run by the British Secret Service. Sara, code name Brooklyn, is joined by a group of kids with special spy skills and they are on a mission to save the world from a deadly virus. Kids who love Spy School and other kid spy novels will love this new series. This book will be published on March 10. If you know a child who loves magic, they will love the Magic Misfit series. Full of interesting messages to the reader about secret codes and ways to perform magic tricks, The Magic Misfits is about a group of kids who come together to use their magical skills to stop those who would use slight of hand to steal things from others. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.</div>
