Believe it or not, today starts my first official day of summer so in addition to discussing books on Monday, I'll also be counting them! Book # 1 Middle Grade Fantasy
13 has lived most of his life in The Home for Wayward and Misbegotten Creatures among other Wonderlings (part man/part animal beings) who have no family to claim them. When he befriends a groundling bird named Trinket, he realizes that he needs to find out what life is like beyond the walls of The Home and to search for his family. But the world outside is a dangerous place for a one eared groundling. 13, now called Arthur by Trinket, must face prejudice and other challenges in order to find where he belongs. An exciting, somewhat dark, story about staying hopeful and recognizing the power of friendship.
Book # 2 Middle Grade Fantasy
Bryx is a Dairne, a doglike species who are known for their ability to recognize when someone is lying. When the rest of her pack is hunted and killed, and their extinction is "mourned" by man and the other species, Bryx realizes that she is now an Endling. And the men who wanted her tribe wiped off the planet, now want to capture her and use her for her ability to tell a truth from a lie. Aided by an unlikely band of adventures, Bryx must search for more of her kind while trying not to be captured or killed. An exciting adventure. I'm looking forward to the next one.
Book #3: Middle Grade Sports Novel in Verse
Charlie Bell feels like life will never be the same after the death of his father. He fights with his mother all the time and can't seem to care about anything except his two best friends, Slim and CJ. In a desperate attempt to help Charlie move forward, his mother sends him to live with his grandparents for the summer. There Charlie finds basketball and learns to appreciate what he still has. Fans of The Crossover will love this prequel. And if you haven't discovered Kwame Alexander's novel in verse books yet, what are you waiting for?

Sounds like you've had a wonderful reading week, Stacy. I really enjoyed both Endling and Rebound, but I've not yet read The Wonderling. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these yet, but had the chance to skim about 100 pages of Rebound. I am looking forward to getting my own copy and Endling as well, I have heard so many great things. Thanks for the post!
