Here's what I read during the last two weeks:

Middle Grade

George has always been sneaky but when he is kidnapped and taken to a secret school for crooks he realizes the life of an evil doer may not be for him. 

Imagine a world where every myth and legend we know is part of our world. How would that change the way we live? My Diary from the Edge of the World is a high stakes story that takes place in this kind of alternate universe.

Young Adult

The newest Throne of Glass story brings together most of the previous characters in a nail biting continuation to their journey. I will be anxiously waiting for book six.

I don't often enjoy political mystery thrillers, but this series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is definitely worth reading. It's Scandal for Tweens.

My class has spent their time noticing, wondering, and thinking about their books. Here's a few of the things they noticed last week.

Here's what I read this week:

Middle Grade

This fun fractured, contemporary, post Snow White story explores beauty and what it really means to be the fairest of them all.

Young Adult

This sequel to Six of Crows was even better than the first book. I love these characters because even though they seem ruthless, they all have incredibly large hearts. I hope there will be a third.

Adult

I hardly ever read adult books but everyone's been talking about this one so I decided to try it. Honest, I didn't find it lived up to the hype. The characters were flat and the women had incredibly low self-esteem. I think I'll stick to kidlit.

Here's what I read this week:

Middle Grade

I've put off reading this book because I was afraid it would somehow diminish the experience of reading the series. It started slow, but as the situation unfolded and the past unraveled, I found myself completely lost in the world I know and love.

I'm not sure if this book would be considered middle grade or YA, but it is an enjoyable tale of mistaken identities and magic. It's a prince(ss) and the pauper set in Tsar Russia with Baba Yaga, a talking cat, an unusual home, and a magic bird and egg.

Young Adult

I enjoyed this book's unusual story telling style. It truly is a character driven coming of age story - just don't trust everything the character has to say.

When a land that bans magic is attacked by a giant beast, the princess must agree to marry a hunter to ensure her kingdom is safe. She never expected to fall in love with the one hunter that cannot win.
